Interior Design Project: Calming Guest Bedroom, Part 1
They say you always remember your first client. Mine is no exception. And no, it’s not just because they are my in-laws, but because not 24 hours after telling them I was starting an interior design business, I received a text asking me to redesign their guest bedroom. Say what, now??!!!! I mean come-on...I knew they were supportive, but this was above and beyond. And this ain't no 'add-a-few-vases-and-throw-pillows redesign', this is a 'legit-budget-everything-must go-even-the-beige-carpet redesign'.Excitement followed that text, with a big-fat-side of holy f^%#. Why? Well, to describe Serge as particular, would be putting it mildly. But really he is just a man who knows what he wants. And I respect that, because I'm very similar in that regard. So, I pushed those feelings aside and got started. Plus, as Lynda put it “If you can win over Serge, you can win over any client” (she's a bit of a mind-reader that one). After some initial discussions, we got talking about some space issues and I suggested we might need to consider bi-fold doors for the closet. A lengthy and passionate discussion about said doors ensued. Remember when I said Serge is a man who knows what he wants? Well, he also knows what he doesn't want, so we said buh-bye to bi-fold doors, and said helllllo to calling this 'Project Closet Doors'. So, let's open up the closet doors and peek inside, shall we (see what I did there?).
The Brief
Lynda and Serge have no plans on redesigning their entire house, in fact, they recently updated their other guest bedroom, so it was important that everything worked together to create cohesiveness with the rest of the house.
The Inspiration
The inspiration started with this very muted light room, we decided not to go this light with the walls but kept the room light and airy, with hints of green.
