I’m the owner and head interior decorator here at Michelle Binette Design.
Having a home that makes you happy makes life better.
And I know decorating projects start off sounding fun, but when you really get into everything– it can be a lot.
The endless decisions, the hours of online searching, the rabbit-hole of options that lands you in Pinterest-paralysis– suddenly that fantastically uncomfortable loveseat you got in college or that grandma-tastic dining set (which your actual grandma thinks is “too old lady” for you) can start to look …just fine.
You deserve more than just fine.
If you’re overwhelmed, overworked, over-allocated, and generally over it, I’m here to help. I have the design eye, the resources, and the experience to bring your home to life in ways you’d never imagined.
Want to know a little more about
me before I roll up into your place?
Here are the Top Five Michelle Binette Fun Facts. How they shaped the designer I am today. (And why you’ll love working with me.)
1. I Was Raised in an Art Gallery.
Literally. My dad is a professional artist who brought me up in an old schoolhouse that occasionally doubled as a gallery. I grew up surrounded by creativity with a strong foundation in the visual arts. Elements like perfectly curated gallery walls and the beauty of anchoring a wall with one large piece have traveled with me into my favourite designs.
In my early years, I also excelled in the fine arts as an award-winning illustrator and later, as a graphic designer.
But nothing really lit me up until I started working in interior design. Now that I’ve found my own avenue into expression, I bring that unique artistic perspective to every project. It’s my low-key superpower when I step into a room I can immediately see how to create beauty, balance, and unity.
2. I used to be an Ad Boss
In fact, my feet were once featured in a print ad for Canadian People Magazine. I was a marketing director, so I understand ROI and client experience. Everything I design is meant to help your space increase in value and maximize your investment. I know how to reveal your home’s inner beauty (and sparkling personality) without lengthy, costly renovations. And I can protect your bottom line from unnecessary costs, cut inefficiencies, and if you want to smash everything and start from scratch– I’m totally here for that (but don’t worry, I can also find ways to work in your lucky leather game-watching chair).
3. I’m Literally Tough as Titanium
I’m an ex-roller derby jammer. Yes, the sport from the movie Whip It. Yes, it’s very rough. And yes, I have a titanium rod in my tibia (and metal plates in my jaw… orthodontics) so I’m pretty much bionic. Take it as a real-world metaphor for how I get things done. I’ve always been the kind of person that makes things happen. It’s a mix of energy, drive, and accountability. Whatever has to be done, I’m on it. It’s just who I am.
4. This is the First Job I’ve Ever Really Loved
I’ve always had a strong work ethic. In everything I pursued, I worked like a maniac to learn everything, exceed expectations, and become that essential go-to person who could always step in and save the day. I left a trail of broken boss hearts as I searched for the thing that would give me a real sense of fulfillment– something that deserved the energy I was willing to put in.
Then I found it. After I decorated my first condo, passion punched me right in the face. I realized I could turn that passion into a business, so I made it happen. Working with busy professionals is my jam. Plus my process is beyond seamless. Basically, my work is everything to me– which is everything you want in someone decorating your home.
